Sea Change Initiative
Sea Change is Ocean Safety’s commitment to creating a more sustainable future across everything we do. It represents a long-term shift in how we design, develop, and deliver our products and services, with sustainability considered at every stage.
From improving product longevity and reducing material use, to streamlining packaging, supporting responsible manufacturing, and minimising waste, Sea Change guides our approach to practical, measurable improvements. It’s about making smarter choices that reduce environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance at sea.
Sea Change isn’t a single action, it’s an ongoing mission to evolve Ocean Safety in a way that supports our oceans, our industry, and the people who rely on our equipment every day.
Our Approach
Implemented an accessible and clearly labelled recycling program with separate bins for paper, cardboard, recycling and general waste.
Reusing boxes and packaging materials for shipments or general office storage.
Implemented electronic product manuals to offer significant environmental and efficiency benefits.
Using only recycled paper for brochure printing and significantly reducing our printing quantity by using QR codes to direct to our digital brochure, as part of our aim to go paperless.
Implemented digital business cards to lower our environmental impact and at shows/events.
Offered to help employees reduce their carbon emissions, lower traffic congestion, and improve air quality.
Switched to LED lights to reduce our environmental impact through lower energy consumption and a longer lifespan.
Staff carpool to reduce carbon emissions and lower costs.
Charging station for electric cars at our offices.
Hold virtual or hybrid meetings where possible to reduce the carbon footprint associated with travel.
Our Progress So Far
Improved with Sustainability in Mind
The new Jon Buoy Hard Case has been developed to improve both usability and sustainability. By using a single container across the Horseshoe, Danbuoy, and Horseshoe & Danbuoy combination products, we’ve reduced the need for multiple case designs, helping to minimise material use and waste.
Built for durability and long-term performance, the hard case extends product life in demanding marine environments, supporting a more sustainable approach to marine safety equipment without compromising reliability at sea.
